Brewing Brilliance: The Roasted Elements Story
Many years ago I tasted a cup of coffee that had different notes to it such as cocoa, taffy, and dark chocolate, it was a freshly roasted just days before. This changed my love of coffee to explore different types and blends. In 2011 I hand built my first roaster using pictures from a Probate that was disassembled for repairs as a blueprint. Affectionately nicknamed the Frankenroaster it gave me the ability to understand the roasting process as well as blending of coffees. Early on I gave coffee to friends to try. and as I did they could taste different notes in the coffee similar to tasing a fine whiskey. Malted grain, palm sugar , cocoa, dried dates to name a few.
